Infant baptism

Baptism is a sacrament, and it requires parents and sponsors to commit themselves to raising and supporting the child in the Catholic faith throughout childhood. If parents wish to have their child(ren) baptised in one of Hemel’s Catholic churches, at least one parent must be a practising Catholic and known to the priests.  Parents must also attend the Baptism preparation session, which run on a Saturday. This sessions gives parents the opportunity to discuss, explore and reflect upon the meaning of Baptism, and ask any questions they may have.

To apply, please speak to a member of the clergy and then complete the Baptism form, which is available at the Preparation Session.

Adult baptism

Adults who wish to be baptised into the Catholic faith, or who would like to find out more about doing so, are welcome to attend the RCIA course. As a first step, please speak to one of our priests.
